BAFTA AWARD-WINNING NEO-SOUL DUO TENDAI + GLEN RELEASE NEW SINGLE, 'IF I'D BEEN HONEST'

THE COMPOSERS OF THE GREAT GATSBY IN LONDON’S WEST END AND NEW YORK’S BROADWAY RETURN WITH THE SECOND SINGLE TO BE TAKEN FROM THEIR YET-TO-BE-ANNOUNCED DEBUT EP

Zimbabwean-born singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and West End star Tendai Humphrey Sitima and British-born, BAFTA award-winning composer/producer Glen Andrew Brown combine as Tendai + Glen for their new single, ‘If I’d Been Honest’.

‘If I’d Been Honest’ is a lustly layered neo-pop song with gospel influences and a chorus that was built for arenas. Co-written and produced by Sitima and Brown, the track harks back to Tendai + Glen’s deep-rooted influences in soul and jazz music, while still retaining the expansive and contemporary sonic palette that is the hallmark of the fast-rising writing and production duo. Listen here.

‘‘If I’d Been Honest’ is about knowing your own value and refusing to change, especially when being asked to do so by people who try to extract your value for selfish reasons - and who, in doing so, take away bits of who you are and what you are’, explains Sitima. ‘It’s about being able to recognise that [you’ve] got your own weight in gold, and know your worth, and that you aren’t going to change for anyone. It’s a series of images that show how it feels when you’re being offered what people tell you is the world, but you respond with a ‘no’, because you know that the world you’re being promised isn’t the one you want.’

Glen Andrew Brown is a BAFTA Award-winning composer, sound designer, and audio post-production engineer for film, television, and games. He has contributed to the music for numerous PlayStation titles, including ‘Returnal and 'God of War', and is also known for his work in theatre, writing the score for the critically acclaimed West End and Broadway adaptations of The Great Gatsby alongside Sitima. His work has garnered numerous award wins and nominations, including a BAFTA and DICE Award win for the music of ‘Returnal’, a further BAFTA nomination for ’Sackboy: A Big Adventure’, and multiple PRS/PMA awards for his work in music for television and library.

Tendai Humphrey Sitima is a RADA-trained actor; a jazz and soul singer; a composer; and a multi-instrumentalist. On London’s West End, Tendai is currently starring in The Play That Goes Wrong at the Duchess Theatre and has previously played George Wilson in The Great Gatsby, for which he also composed and produced the original score alongside Brown. As an arranger, he contributed to the BAFTA-nominated score for PlayStation’s ‘Sackboy: A Big Adventure’.

Proudly wearing their influences in Jazz, Soul, Pop, and R&B, Tendai + Glen create an exciting new sound tied together with slick production.
Blending deep grooves, jazz harmony, stacked vocals, poetic lyrics, and soaring melodies, this creative duo has stumbled on a sound that captures the feeling of growing up proudly in the modern era.
Tendai + Glen’s music feels honest, intimate, and personal yet draws on universal themes of love, identity, struggle, self-belief, and growth.
